ILFORD BAZAAR |

|
Following on from the Wembley bazaar, we were contacted by volunteers in the Ilford region who offered to organise a bazaar in aid of SOT. With a lot of hard work and organisation by the volunteers, it was an enormous success with stalls, lots of kids games, bouncy castle and lots of delicious food. Particular thanks to Fahmeeda Gill for organising this.
GRAND TOTAL RAISED – Approx £2000

CHARITY CRICKET MATCH |

|
Anyone for cricket? The charity cricket match was an enjoyable day of Cricket; a return of the veterans for many! We are definitely not getting any younger. Congrats to ‘The Stars’ (Fahad Mehboob’s team) in their victory over ‘The Crescents’ (my team). On the whole it was quite an impressive performance on both sides, besides the extras and couple of ducks (You know who you are! J). The quality of umpiring was indeed second to none. I planned on publicising the scoresheet but upon reviewing it, there seems to be some inconsistencies…….hmmm.
Congratulations to Ateeq Ahmed for scoring a half century and winning the highest batting score prizes and also congrats to Naved Siddiqi for the best bowling performance (2 wickets for 15) and winning the best bowler prizes.
Many thanks to our sponsors The Brit Oval, www.onestopcricketshop.com, www.galaxycricket.com , Monarch Sports (of Leytonstone) and particularly to the main sponsor of the event Nida Trust (www.nidatrust.org.uk) for sponsoring three players and covering the cost of pitch hire. Also thanks to my wife and Asif Raja (and his missus) for providing the biryani, hope everyone liked it.
GRAND TOTAL RAISED – Approx £1300

WEMBLEY CHARITY BAZAAR |

|
Despite the expected bad weather on the Saturday, the ‘Wembley Summer Charity Bazaar’ in aid of Sadeeqa Orphanage Trust was a great success, alhamdulillah. Like most things success comes through hard work and dedication (and indeed the help of Allah). All the helpers worked extremely hard to organise and prepare for this event and we are most grateful to them for sacrificing their time and effort in making this event a success.
It was a day will lots of stalls, kids games / activities, bouncy castle and lots of tasty BBQ chicken / burgers.
Particular thanks go to the sponsors of the bazaar who provided food, drinks, equipment and financial assistance. They are:
Tahira Foods, Evoca Drinks, Fruitasia (of Ealing Road), Aleaf Windows, The Drive School and Middlesex catering Supplies.
GRAND TOTAL RAISED – Approx £2500

10K CHARITY RUN
This was our first charity event and was a good excuse to get fit for charity.
Ready, Steady, Go! It was an early start for the runners of the 10K Bupa Capital Run at Hyde Park, London and indeed for those that ran in aid of Sadeeqa Orphanage Trust.
Following a carb filled breakfast, we left our homes and arrived at Hyde Park at 9:30am ready for the group warm up. The park was filled with 10,000 runners and the atmosphere was amazing. The run got under way at 10:30am as the heat of the Sun intensified.
The run covered the entire length and breadth of the Park from Kensington, past the Serpentine, to Marble Arch, then down to Hyde park speakers corner and on to Knightsbridge. It was gruelling to say the least!
We all finally completed the run without stopping and with respectable times:
